This vintage No. 1 manual coffee and spice mill was manufactured by Spong & Co. Ltd. in England. The tool is constructed from heavy-duty cast iron with a black-painted finish and features gold-toned highlights on the embossed lettering. It includes a bell-shaped hopper with a white vitreous enamel interior that feeds into a steel internal grinding mechanism. The unit is designed for versatile use, featuring both an integrated screw-down clamp for table mounting and pre-drilled holes for wall attachment. The rear of the casting is embossed with MADE IN ENGLAND and No. 1. No specific patent dates are marked on the casing. The manual crank handle, fitted with a red-painted grip, is in full working order.
