A small rectangular hinged box constructed from a dark composite material, possibly ebonite or papier-mâché. The lid features a moulded diamond-lattice pattern across the upper surface. The interior is undecorated, and the lid is secured by a simple metal hinge. This type of vessel was commonly utilised for storing pen nibs, stamps, or other small desk sundries. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are present.
