A glazed earthenware character jug produced by Kingston Pottery, England. The vessel is modelled as the head of King Richard I, featuring a bearded face and wearing a dark brown cap with relief-moulded scrollwork. The piece is finished in a polychrome palette of brown, ochre, and cream glazes with tonal shading to the facial features. It features an integral scroll handle to the reverse. The base is marked with a black stamp reading Kingston. Made in England and features incised lettering for MADE IN ENGLAND and RICHARD I. with a separate incised I below.
