Lot 792: Churchill's Confectionery Matilda Art Deco Style Lithographed Tin

A rectangular lithographed tinplate storage tin produced by Churchill’s Confectionery, featuring the Matilda pattern. The push-on lid is decorated with a central illustration of a woman in a blue floor-length gown with gold-tone geometric ziggurat patterns at the hem, wearing a wide-brimmed hat with blue plumes and walking a white Borzoi. The scene is set against a black ground with a stylized Art Deco fan motif in the upper right corner. The signature Churchill’s is printed in gold-tone cursive script in the lower right corner of the lid. The sides of the tin feature a repeating geometric Art Deco border in shades of blue, gold, and silver-tone.
