Lot 906: A carved fossiliferous limestone elephant tea light holder

A carved elephant figurine fashioned from tan-coloured fossiliferous limestone, often commercially referred to as fossil stone. The figure is rendered in a simplified, blocky form with a large circular aperture in the back designed to accommodate a standard tea light candle. The stone surface exhibits numerous visible fossil inclusions and sections of varying mineralisation throughout. The piece is unsigned and lacks any maker’s marks or labels.
