Lot 261: Ebonised Hardwood Trinket Box in the Arts and Crafts Style

A wooden trinket box designed in the Glasgow School style, showing influences of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The square-format box is constructed from ebonised hardwood, possibly oak, with a tiered and bevelled lid. Centred on the lid is a square, openwork silver-toned metal plaque featuring a cruciform lattice design and a stylised rose motif. A matching decorative metal element is applied to the front face. The interior is lined with a blue velvet-like fabric. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible.
