A freestanding promotional newspaper distribution stand for The Argus, a regional newspaper serving Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. The unit is constructed from red painted metal and comprises a rectangular bin with a notched front edge and an upright backboard. The bin is mounted on a central pillar which is supported by a four-point cruciform base. The legs of the base are fitted with black plastic or rubber end caps. The front of the bin and the backboard are printed with white text reading The Argus in a bold serif typeface, with the instruction PLEASE TAKE ONE below in a casual sans-serif typeface. The interior of the bin contains several old newspaper sheets used as padding or liners. A small white adhesive lot tag bearing the number 5847 is present on one leg of the base.
