Lot 171: A Pair of Chinese Polychrome Porcelain Baluster Vases

A matched pair of Chinese polychrome porcelain vases of baluster form. Each piece is decorated in a vibrant Famille Rose palette with two principal reserves. One side features a scene of figures in a traditional garden setting, while the reverse depicts a floral spray accompanied by butterflies. These cartouches are set within a dense millefleurs ground composed of small polychrome blossoms and foliate scrolls, accented with gilt borders. The waisted necks are similarly decorated with floral designs, and the flared rims feature a gilt edge. The underside of each base is marked with a four-character red stamped seal mark in seal script, reading Guangdong Zhi Zao (Guangdong Made), indicating manufacture in the second half of the 20th century.
