A vintage industrial paint inspection gauge (PIG) for destructive coating thickness testing, manufactured by Stierand Prufgerate GmbH and Co. KG of Hemer-Sundwig, Germany, and supplied by Elcometer Instruments Ltd. of Droylsden, Manchester. The instrument is constructed with a heavy-duty machined metal body in a black finish, incorporating an integrated measurement microscope with a green-finished eyepiece barrel and optical glass lenses. The device features various chrome-plated adjustment components, including a grey knob marked ROCA SW10 and a knurled metal wheel. It is housed in its original black leather carrying case with an adjustable shoulder strap and two metal snap-button closures. The lot includes a Faber-Castell Marker 21 felt-tip pen and a spare knurled thumb screw. Markings include a red and white adhesive label for Stierand, a silver foil supplier label for Elcometer on the case, and the embossed text MADE IN GERMANY on the leather beneath the case flap.
