Lot 249: An Islamic Style Cast Metal Oil Lamp with Relief Calligraphy Decoration

A cast metal oil lamp, likely a copper alloy or bronze, featuring a bulbous body set upon a flared circular pedestal base. The piece is decorated in high relief with intricate scrolling foliate motifs and arabesques. Around the shoulder is a band of stylized characters resembling Arabic script. The lamp includes an arched handle at the rear and a removable circular lid connected by a small metal chain. The spout has a single aperture for a wick. The pedestal base is attached to the body by a central flat-head screw visible on the underside.
