Lot 527: A Collection of Paragon Elizabeth Rose Pattern Bone China Tableware
A collection of fine bone china dinner and tea service items manufactured by Paragon China Ltd. of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in the Elizabeth Rose pattern. The service features transfer-printed decoration consisting of clusters of pink roses with green foliage against a white ground. Each piece is finished with a gilded, scalloped rim and further gilded accents to the handles, feet, and finials.
The collection includes a variety of forms: a teapot with lid, a lidded twin-handled vegetable tureen, a gravy boat with a matching underplate, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, a large flared serving bowl, several soup or cereal bowls, several small dessert or fruit bowls, multiple teacups, multiple saucers, and several side plates.
The base of the pieces bears a pink printed manufacturer’s mark. It features a royal coat of arms surmounted by a crown, with the text BY APPOINTMENT TO H.M. THE QUEEN CHINA POTTERS PARAGON CHINA LTD. STOKE – ON – TRENT. Below this, the pattern name Elizabeth Rose is written in green script, followed by FINE BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND REG’D L/L in pink.
