Lot 477: Spode Fine Bone China Shima Pattern Bowl

A Spode fine bone china bowl decorated in the Shima pattern. The circular vessel features a flared rim and a raised foot ring. The decoration is executed in a traditional Imari palette of underglaze blue, overglaze iron-red, and gilding. The interior centre depicts a flowering branch and a butterfly. The inner rim is decorated with a wide border comprising floral cartouches, blue hexagonal diaper panels, and foliate scrolls. The exterior is decorated with repeating floral sprays. The rim is finished with a band of gilding.
