Lot 212: A Large Queen Conch Shell Specimen

A large, heavy-walled marine gastropod shell specimen, identified as a Queen Conch (Aliger gigas). The shell is characterised by a typical spiral spire and prominent, blunt, pyramidal spines along the shoulder of the body whorl. It features a predominantly off-white to cream colour with a chalky, matte surface texture. The specimen lacks its original interior pigmentation, indicating it is likely a beach-collected or naturally weathered example. It possesses a broad, flared outer lip. Note: The species Aliger gigas is listed on CITES Appendix II.
