Buyer's Premium:

An antique J. Hudson and Co. The Metropolitan cylindrical whistle, constructed from nickel-plated brass. The barrel is stamped with the manufacturer’s identification: THE METROPOLITAN, J. HUDSON and CO, BARR ST HOCKLEY, and BIRMINGHAM. Positioned below the address is an incised broad arrow or crow’s foot mark, used to denote British government property. The whistle features a side-blown vent and an integrated suspension loop at the top terminal. This pattern of whistle was famously adopted by the Metropolitan Police and subsequently utilised by the British military as a General Service whistle during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
