Lot 588: A Pye P75 Tabletop Valve Radio

A mid-20th-century tabletop valve radio, identified as model P75, manufactured by Pye Ltd. of Cambridge, England. The unit is housed in a rectangular wooden cabinet featuring walnut veneers and decorative light-coloured wood stringing inlay to the front face. The upper portion of the front contains a speaker grille covered in a beige and brown diamond-patterned fabric, which is embellished with a red and black metal Pye manufacturer’s badge. The lower portion features a horizontal glass tuning dial indicating Long Wave, Medium Wave, and Short Wave bands, with various European station names listed. Two dark brown plastic control knobs are located on either side of the dial, labeled for volume and tuning. The reverse of the radio retains its original perforated protective back panel, which is printed with manufacturer details and the reference number 059022. The unit has been fitted with a modern white UK three-pin plug.
