Lot 2: Optimus Model 411 Swedish Brass Blowtorch Converted to Electric Table Lamp
A mid-20th-century Swedish brass blowtorch manufactured by Optimus, model 411, which has been repurposed into a decorative electric table lamp. The item consists of a cylindrical brass fuel tank and burner assembly with an iron handle and supports. The side of the tank is stamped with the script mark Optimus above MADE IN SWEDEN, accompanied by a circular globe logo. The base of the tank is incised with the model number 411 and the valve thumb screw is marked OPTIMUS. The original burner nozzle has been modified to house an electric light socket currently fitted with a candle-style bulb. It retains the original detachable brass nozzle guard which functions as a shade. The lamp is wired with a gold-coloured electrical flex and a standard UK 3-pin plug. The lamp is shown illuminated in the catalogue photography.
Condition report:
The brass body is in good vintage condition, exhibiting a natural aged patina with surface wear and minor indentations consistent with its former industrial use. The iron handle and supports show signs of surface oxidation and wear. The item is sold as a decorative object and it is recommended that the electrical components are inspected and PAT tested by a qualified electrician before use.
