A large rectangular footstool in the Louis XVI style, likely dating from the late 19th century. The frame is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood, featuring four fluted and tapered legs headed by square corner blocks with recessed panels. The overstuffed seat is upholstered in a light-coloured herringbone patterned fabric and is finished with a decorative border of brass-headed nailhead trim around the base of the seat rail. The design incorporates neoclassical elements characteristic of the Louis XVI revival period. No maker marks or labels are present.
